The last few months have been surreal. The lockdown has been challenging for all. I am lucky to have studio at home and so have been busy. My kids have been very self sufficient and taken to home schooling very well.
One simple idea has helped all artists including me in these challenging times. Set up by artist Matthew Burrows . The Artist Support Pledge is a simple concept. Artists post images of their work, on Instagram which they are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping). Anyone can buy the work. Every time an artist reaches £1000 of sales, they pledge to spend £200 on another artist/s work.
The #ArtistSupportPledge movement has certainly has helped me enthused in my painting; the feedback and sales has been uplifting- thank you to all who liked my posts and bought my paintings.
I post paintings as part of the #artistsupportpledge on my Instagram feed regularly. I am also working on larger pieces for various gallery shows opening in the next 12 months. Watch this space!
Due to the support I have received, I am also filling up the space in my walls with amazing pieces from other amazing artists like Kirsty Withers, Ellis O’Connor and Carina Prigmore.
We may be entering final weeks of strict lockdown, I will view these few months with a mixture of emotions. But my art has helped me look positively to the future.
I have stuck to what Austin Kleon has said in his books- Stick Around, Show your work and Keep your tools tidy and your materials messy!
